Recently, I attended the Bluffton media release for the new town video/presentation from Mayor Lisa Sulka & Town Manager Marc Orlando, where discussions about the towns strategic goals, achievements, and growth were analyzed. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the town of Bluffton, it is compromised of over 21,000 residents, an enormous increase of 1,000% since 2000, making it one of the fastest growing areas in the South. The vision of the town is as follows: “Bluffton, the Heart of the Lowcountry, a town that appreciates the past, focuses on today and is planning together for a greater future.”

Neighboring popular beach vacation destination, Hilton Head Island, Bluffton differs in the sense that it has a true neighborhood atmosphere. With not as much traffic, tourists, charming farmers markets, rising art scene, and private waterfront areas, compared to Hilton Head, Bluffton is a family friendly location with plenty to do. The average age is 34, with more opportunities for better paying jobs and closer to some of the most popular cities in the South, such as Charleston, Savannah, and Beaufort, all within a 2 hour radius.

As the Lowcountry becomes more discovered and our area develops, Bluffton’s home market will continue to increase in value. By attracting those buyers who want to embrace the natural environment, relaxed lifestyle, and resort-style living, we become a melting pot of like-minded people from across the country.
